The film "First Man" by Damien Chazel tells about one of the most important events of the twentieth century, a huge leap for all of humanity, a story we know from childhood. This is of course the brave flight of Neil Armstrong to the moon. But the film would not be so good, if he would only talk about it. There is always a subtext in a good story. And here the authors coped flawlessly.
In the film, we recognize Neal, who is trying to survive the loss of a loved one. Possessing superhuman self-control, without fear and hesitation, he takes one height after another, coping where no one could. But conquering space turned out to be easier than coping with a trauma. Behind external victories and calmness, there are internal excitements of an ordinary person.
Neal also had a hard time killing his friends during unsuccessful missile launches. Each new death he perceived as a personal defeat. The expedition to the moon is generally not a simple matter, in addition to failing launches, it was necessary to overcome many obstacles. Lack of budget, mass strikes of people against the flight, political intrigues, etc. But Neal had his own struggle. Having dared to fly to a place where previously there was not a single living soul where darkness and silence reign, he literally entered the battle with death. And only by reaching his goal and surviving, could he truly win.
And Neil did it, making it almost impossible, he immortalized his name in history. Long after his death, the memory of him will live. Thus, in a fight with death itself, he emerged as the absolute winner. The film also features the amazing music of Justin Hurwitz. I advise you to look.
The Little Mermaid
One of the best creations of Walt Disney! This very sad fairytale for adults, Disney has turned into another magical story for all ages. The cartoon is full of colors, characters, trifles, beautiful melodies and songs. All characters have their own character, their own history. Very kind, magical love story. What I especially like about all the Disney cartoons is that they are always colorful, kind and have some kind of appeal. When I was little and watched the Little Mermaid, I asked my mother the question why my name is not Ariel, how I wanted to have the same hair and such a beautiful loving prince with big blue eyes, I bought everything that concerned the little mermaid. And now, after so many years, my daughter is already watching this cartoon with the same enthusiasm as I once was. And looking at her, I remember myself, and she asks me the same question why her name is not Ariel. Many thanks to Walt Disney and everyone who drew, voiced and wrote songs for this cartoon. I have already downloaded many of these songs for myself.
A beautiful picture that captures you and keeps you in suspense during the entire viewing. Let someone say that the film looks like a fairy tale, but nowadays it’s a fairy tale that is not enough to understand that there is still love in the world for which it is worth fighting!
I would like to mention the perfectly selected cast, which opened and showed their heroes so real. I will single out Edward Norton, whom I first saw in the films "American History X" and "Robbery in Italian", where he played negative characters. But as he showed the essence of the sadly romantic Eisenheim ... I think that this left a trace in more than one woman's heart.
The plot is allowed and predictable, but it looks at one go. The feeling of magic remains for a long time ...
Shichinin no samurai
Starting to watch this movie, I was pretty worried. The fact is that the last time I looked at it was still a distant childhood, and although I only brought out the best memories, there were fears that the spectacle would be unbearable. Dispelled after about ten minutes. The film captivated, captured, and did not let go throughout the entire viewing. Never for all the time, but I must say that the film is going on for three and a half hours, I have never looked at my watch, considering how much was left to the end.
What is the film about? Sixteenth century, Japan is torn apart by civil wars. Taking advantage of the general chaos, gangs are everywhere rampaging, robbing and killing the most defenseless people on earth, that is, ordinary peasants. However, the peasants of one village are not so simple, and, having learned that one such gang is going to rob their village, these same peasants decide to protect themselves. How do they do it? It was decided to hire a samurai, so that they would repel the offenders. And the envoys of the village are sent to the big city to look for those who will agree to risk their lives almost exclusively for food. This is the beginning of this film.
It is hard not to mention the actors who played their roles perfectly: the wise head of a small detachment, a devoted young romantic, a chic, laconic player of the blade. And of course, apart from me, at least for me, is the beast-like "madman" performed by the inimitable Toshiro Mifune. Toshiro in this role is simply magnificent, his play is enchanting, and the character of this abnormal samurai is probably the most difficult of all the characters. If at the beginning of the movie, Toshiro’s 100% comedic hero causes only laughter, then in the middle and especially towards the end the image of this proud peasant who does not want to drag out a miserable existence, following the example of his fellow tribesmen, makes him feel empathetic that he becomes almost the main character of the picture. And in general, the actors liked everything, from funny peasants to the head of the bandits.
What else. Loved the shoot. Panoramas of the village, shooting battles in it, the final shooting of the work of the peasants in the field. Very naturalistic scenes of battles, even though blood does not gush with a river, but when a person is killed, every time you shudder. You can also note a small love line, by the way, the girl also played well.
So what's the movie about? A film about the simplicity of the feat, that cold-blooded, ruthless warriors suddenly find themselves capable of compassion, mercy, love and ready to give their lives for the welfare of one small village. And making their feat, these samurai not only save the peasants, but also give them inner freedom. Overcoming the ingrained feeling of animal horror, destroying their adversary, the peasants stop groveling, get up from their knees and begin a new life, in which there is no place for fear and humiliation. This is how I understood what I wanted to bring Kurosawa to me.
If possible, do not miss this wonderful, on the one hand, cruel, and on the other, a very kind, excellent director film.
